Built around warm orange and coral, softened with touches of pink, this design explores something surprisingly difficult to find: orange that feels easy to wear again and again.

Rather than treating orange as an occasional statement color, the composition pares it back. The result is vivid without being visually demanding—a silk scarf designed to bring warmth and color into an existing wardrobe while retaining the restraint of a more minimal piece.

Layer it under a blazer, sweater, or under a hat to keep the pattern under wraps for a quieter look — or wear it fully, over all-black or some other neutral like chocolate brown, grey, or bright white so the design takes center stage.

Wearable Art by an Award-Winning Artist

Each Materia Puera scarf begins with original artwork created by award-winning artist Amina Olajide.

The scarf designs are adapted from painstakingly created works of fine art, translating their color, movement, and visual language into pieces intended to live differently: folded, wrapped, layered, and worn.

Dozens of the original canvas works have also been donated to charity auctions supporting causes locally and internationally, connecting the larger body of work to a continuing practice of art made with purpose.

Intentionally Designed for Real Life

This collection balances three ideas:

• Originality: Each design originates in independently created fine artwork rather than a conventional textile pattern.

• Wearability: The artwork is thoughtfully adapted so that the scarf remains expressive without requiring a particular outfit or occasion.

• Complexion versatility: Layering, folding, and positioning allow different areas of the palette to come forward depending on how you prefer to wear the piece.

For this particular design, the restrained composition gives the orange and coral room to breathe. Shifts into bluish pink soften the palette further, making an uncommon scarf color surprisingly versatile.

Styling

If desired, wear with a cotton or jersey undercap for additional hold in headscarf styles.

For even greater grip and stability, the scarf can also be secured at the nape of the neck with a hijab pin or magnet rather than beneath the chin.

Silk Twill

Each scarf is made from 14-momme 100% silk twill, a fabric prized for its balance of structure, drape, durability, and understated sheen.

The characteristic diagonal twill weave gives the fabric subtle texture and strength while allowing it to fall fluidly when wrapped.

A Note on Printed Silk Twill

Printed silk twill carries the strongest color saturation on the face side of the fabric. The reverse naturally appears lighter, showing approximately 40–50% of the face-side saturation.

This is a characteristic of the printing process and fabric construction rather than a defect or variation between pieces.

Photography primarily shows the face side as it is intended to be worn, and lighting may make the reverse appear somewhat softer in photographs than it does in person.

Care

• Reactive-dye printed for lasting color

• A small amount of tinted rinse water during the first wash can be normal

• For the first wash, wash separately in cold water using a mild detergent

• For subsequent washes, machine wash cold with phosphate-free detergent

• Machine dry on low or hang to dry

• Iron on a silk/delicate setting with low steam

• Approximately 1% shrinkage in width and length may occur
